Save Money – Price Match at Target with the Amazon App!

I recently learned about the Krazy Coupon Lady. I think it was through a share on Facebook, and one of their videos grabbed my attention – that you can price match at Target using the Amazon app.

You read that right! It’s as easy as scanning a product at Target with your Amazon app.

Unfortunately I somehow lost the receipt between the store and home, but I did go online to get a screen grab to show you the difference:

At Target, the Disney Elena of Avalor Guitar was $29.99, the same as online (see below). The Lego Super Heroes Kryptonite Interception was actually $24.99 in the store (what?!?! different price in store vs. online?!?!)

At Amazon, I was able to use the Amazon App to search for the specific item on Amazon. Here are some screen shots of my phone, just as an example. You click on the magnifying glass and it accesses your camera. Then you can capture either the front of the item, or scan the barcode (which worked better for me).

After that, Amazon pulls up some options and you can select the one that looks like the closest match.

On Amazon, the guitar was $5 less, and compared to the in-store price, the Legos were $2 cheaper! That’s $7 savings!!!

I just took my items and went to customer service, told them I wanted to price match, and they looked up the items and confirmed. VOILA! $7 savings for an extra 5 minutes of my time!

(Target will price match their online price as well – so it’s worth checking out Target online as well.)

Check out other tips on the Krazy Coupon Lady’s website. They have some great tips, even for those of us who aren’t extreme couponers, (I consider myself a lazy couponer) you can save some money fast!

Happy shopping!

How to Ship Via PayPal Without Payment

How to ship via PayPal without payment

Here’s my tip of the week 🙂

Sometimes I will want to ship something to someone but didn’t receive payment through PayPal. We all know that PayPal shipping is cheaper than using, and some options just aren’t available on that are available through PayPal (i.e. First Class shipping with tracking).

Did you know that you can take advantage of PayPal’s shipping even if you are shipping to someone who did not pay you via PayPal? You can! Just go to the following link, and fill out all of the information. (If you are not already logged in to PayPal, you will be directed to their login page. Just log in and follow the prompts.)

I wish I could remember where I first learned of this, I’d totally give credit… So whoever you are, thank you!

Cool Stuff I Discovered This Week

It has been a rather harrowing week in our household, so I thought I would write a lighter hearted post about some of the cool things I discovered while staying at home with my 2 flu-ridden kiddos. Sorry, no mind-blowing blogging, etsy or parenting tips this week…

Let’s start with my efforts to reduce my carbon footprint/get rid of disposables/be nicer to the earth. I must admit that Etsy is my downfall. I <3 Etsy waaayyy too much and my bank account suffers for it. While I was hanging out with the sick littles, I admit to scrolling through the Etsy app on my phone when I saw this:

Reusable Produce Bags

These reusable produce bags are made by BS Textiles. I already use cloth bags for my grocery shopping, and while it always bugs me to use the plastic produce bags, it never occurred to me to bring my own (duh!). Check these out! They’re super reasonably priced ($7.50 for 3) or make some for yourself! I just love this idea.

The other cool idea I came across was these portable car booster seats by Bubble Bum.

Collapsible car booster seat

I learned about them from the blog So Easy Being Green and thought they were a great idea! I know I went out and bought an extra booster seat that I carry around in my trunk in case I need to pick up my neighbor’s daughter from school, and this would be so nice because it would take up much less space! It also sounds like a great idea for traveling with a child (booster age/sized) so you don’t have to lug the big booster on the plane. You can pack one of these and your trip in a taxi or rental car is taken care of.

I hope you found these to be useful, and will allow me to “slide” this week by doing a simpler post 🙂

Take care everyone! Next week’s post is not guaranteed… I will be in South Carolina all week to become a trainer in ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) which is a program enabling people to provide suicide first aid – in other words, what anyone can do to help someone who is suicidal.

And since I’ve touched on the topic of suicide prevention, if you or someone you know is thinking about suicide, you can call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline number 1-800-273-TALK (8255) any time, day or night, in the USA.

How to Add Etsy Shop Links to Your Blog/Website

How to integrate your Etsy store into your blog or website

I’ve been trying to figure out a way to refer my blog readers to my Etsy Shop in a tasteful way. I started thinking about this when I happened to notice the “Etsy Mini” link in the “Promote” menu. I have two tips for you today: Adding Etsy Mini to your web site or blog and Adding a link on your blog/website to your Etsy shop page.

Adding Etsy Mini to Your Website/Blog

etsy mini

I clicked on the link for Etsy Mini and then I saw that you are supposed to paste a code somewhere on my blog.

Duh Duh Duh Duuuuhhhhh!!! Again, I ask, why the heck do these people always expect us to know where to embed or paste codes? I am not an html expert. I barely can figure out how to do things on my little blog. But again, Google is my friend.

I found a page that talked about adding the code to a text box in widgets on your page. Unfortunately I can’t find that link again, so please know I’m not claiming to come up with the idea on my own. If anyone sees it, I’m happy to link to the original person.

Keep in mind that some of the steps I mention can be theme specific, so depending on your theme, you may or may not be able to do some of these things. I have the Judy Blog theme from ThemeForest and can do this theme. I have no experience with other themes…

I went to my web page dashboard on my hosted website, and clicked on Widgets.

Then I selected the widget option “Text” (it was pretty far down on my widget options) and clicked on that.

I selected “Index Sidebar” because I wanted the Etsy Mini to show up in my sidebar. You can select other options and see what you like…

Then I created the title I wanted to appear above the Etsy Mini preview. Uncreatively, I chose “Shop,” and then pasted that pesky code in the big box. I hit “save” and VIOLA! Etsy Mini’s preview appeared on my page! I chose to do one column with five rows and the gallery (larger pictures) because I liked how that worked for my particular page.

Adding a Link on Your Blog/Website to Your Etsy Shop Page

After I was successful with Etsy Mini, I was feeling pretty darn proud of myself. What else could I do to make my blog more friendly to those who may want to check out my Etsy store?

While Googling the previous Etsy Mini issue, I came across this link (fortunately I didn’t close the page so I can give credit!) It links to an Etsy store owner’s forum and fortunately “Monique” made the suggestion below.

Adding a link to your Etsy shop in your website or blogOn Monique’s page, she has a link in her menu which, when clicked, takes you to her Etsy Shop.

So I set about doing the same thing…

I went to my dashboard again and looked under Appearance and clicked on the “Menus” button, then the “links” button.

I inserted the URL to my Etsy Store page, decided what I wanted the name of this menu option to say (I put “My Etsy Shop”) and clicked “Add to Menu.”

Lo and behold… the new “My Etsy Shop” link was added to my menu and it totally worked!! Yippee!!

I wish I could figure out how to make it open the link in a new page so it didn’t navigate away from my blog, but I’m exhausted from all that work today. Tomorrow is another day!

Let me know if this worked for you, or if you tried something different. We Etsy sellers need to stick together to provide the world with more handcrafted cool stuff!
